About the Journal
The magazine is called Punto Cero, although the name is inspired by the proposals of the German Hans Magnum Enzensberger, it does not imply the radical notion that this author proposes to us in a context influenced by the so-called postmodernity, by stating that the production of senses starts from a total communication gap and that meanings begin to occur only when the mind of the receiver comes into contact with the messages. Nor is it the other way around..
Editorial line
Punto Cero is an academic and scientific journal of teachers and students of the Social Communication Sciences Career of the Universidad Católica Boliviana San Pablo. It addresses communication and culture issues in particular and the social sciences in general.
Punto Cero seeks to contribute in a pluralistic way to the dissemination of scientific knowledge generated locally, nationally and internationally.
At a time of crisis of models and paradigms for the study of communications, Punto Cero adopts a cautious stance in the face of the uncertainty generated both by the crisis itself, and by certain trends that, clinging to apocalyptic schemes or easy ways that fall into fashions such that of apologizing the activity of the receiver, they stop the development of research in social communication.
In this sense, Punto Cero is an alert to prepare all communication resources both from the perspective of the production of messages, and from that of scientific research; precisely to get out of the uncertainty, to work accepting the challenges of continuing to think that, although the crisis of enlightened reason is confirmed, the nonexistence of poverty and the low standards of living of the majority of the population of our peoples.
Either is it disconfirmed that the media are entities inserted in the rules of the market and that, nevertheless, people continue to appropriate the offers of the mass and contrast their references, with millenary cultural matrices. The Latin American public, despite so much adversity, continues to resist and allow the emergence of rich and ambitious demonstrations that often escape the control of the hegemonic elites and are projected as conquests of symbolic or material objectives.
